St. Joseph's School Kohdar – Meja is located in the premises of Srijan vihar township of Meja Thermal power project at Kohdar – Meja. It was a felt need to establish an English medium school on CBSE pattern in this locality to where the child gets optimum opportunity for the total development of his/her personality. Hence, it came into existence by signing an agreement between the HOP of MUNPL, Prabhat Kumar and President of DAES and Director General of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Allahabad Most Rev. Dr. Raphy Manjaly on 26th March 2017 at the Bishop's House, Prayagraj.

St. Joseph's School, Kohdar is a co-educational English medium school is established by the Project and managed by a Christian minority organization; i.e. the Roman Catholic (R.C.) Diocese of Allahabad under article 30(1) of the constitution of India. The School is governed by “Diocese of Allahabad Education Society (DAES), a registered body, whose Director General is the Bishop of the R. C., Diocese of Allahabad. It is primarily meant to cater to the educational needs of the children of the Meja thermal power project of Kohdar- Meja and its neighbouring villages.

St. Joseph's School, Kohdar –Meja is a Co – educational English medium CBSE school, initially having classes from LKG – Class IV, in the Academic year 2017 – 18 began from the 11th April 2017. It will be an Endeavour to bring up full pledged school up to Class XII, in the years to come.

The Motto of the School is “LUX MENTIS LUX ORBIS”. It is a Latin phrase which means the lighted mind can enlighten the world. The primary aim of the institution is to impart to its pupils a sound, moral, intellectual and physical education according to the Moral principles. Hence, no stone will be left unturned to bring out those qualities which are the best and noblest in the children so as to make them good citizens for our beloved country.

Co – curricular activities of various natures are provided in order to promote harmonious development of both soul and body.
